WHEN DO WE WEAR PPE?
Like any construction site, there are numerous hazards and rules one must be aware of. Contractors need to be mindful of their surrounds and remember: always wear your PPE! These safety measures are in place to keep everyone safe in a shipyard environment.
WHAT PPE MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES?
Basic personal protective equipment that must be worn include:
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- Steel-toed boots
- Flashlight
- Appropriate clothes (jeans, overalls, long sleeve shirt, etc.)
WELDING PPE
Additional personal protective equipment for welding in a shipyard include a welding shield, respirator, fire-resistant clothing (welding sleeves / welding jacket), welding gloves and hearing protection.
